To Australia I Go.
Tomorrow, I leave for Australia on a Work & Holiday visa, which allows Americans aged 18-30 to travel to Australia and legally work there for up to 12 months (provided they don't work for the same employer for more than 6 months). As I've said before, I've always wanted to go to Australia, and I am looking forward to exploring the beautiful Land Down Under. Expect to see many, many photos of Australian wildlife (and probably landscapes, too, even though landscapes aren't really my thing) on my site and in my blog.
Yet, with all of this positive talk and high hopes, there's also talk that the Australian economy may go into recession this year. Having seen (and experienced) the effects of the "Great Recession" over here in the United States, I am concerned; however, minimum wage in Australia is $16 an hour, although that's mostly to make up for Australia's high cost of living and inflation.
I am not discouraged by this information, but these are factors that one must consider before going to another country. When traveling abroad, research is critical, so you know what to do and what to expect.
